Taking your Business to the Internet 2017

It's been quite some time since the dot-com bubble burst, and the deep wounds of those who managed to survive the burst have healed. And after a long time websites and e-commerce sites are mushrooming all over the Internet. While every other regular business requires you to invest money in physical or intellectual assets, how can a bunch of people think of starting their businesses just by putting up a few pages on the Internet, create a virtual shopping store, and expect to become business barons and multimillionaires. The truth is yes, you have pretty good chance of becoming a multimillionaire with just your own website.

Let me try to take a few case studies.

Michael Dell, the CEO of Dell computers, was amongst the first people to understand the power of the Internet. At a time when Dell was still a small company, and Compaq, IBM, and Gateway were ruling the PC business, Dell decided to start selling their PCs over the net. A lot of people at that time thought it was a joke but over a period of time their Internet business has grown substantially and today Dell is the world's largest PC manufacturer. Their strategy of directly selling to the end customer and avoiding the middlemen which started with their web store has now become Dell's business model.

While selling physical goods over the net has its advantages in terms of low inventory costs and a world-wide client base, sites that sell digital content or intellectual knowledge of information have the advantage of making maximum profits because the manufacturing costs over a period of time comes down to zero while the profits tend to increase exponentially. (Figure B)

Let's look at the recent success story of Apple Computers. Apple is known for their sleek-looking and high performance iMacs, iBooks, G4s and G5s, not to mention their high-quality software. Every year Apple pumps in huge amounts of money in Research and Development and in trying to make their products more superior. According to their latest financial figures, the credit for their substantial growth in sales is being credited to the iPod and iTunes, which grew by over 141 % year on year. While the iPod is their small MP3 player, iTunes is their online gallery of songs from where users can download or buy the songs of their choice for a small fee. Looking at the simple economics of iTunes, let's say Apple pays about $900 as a license fee to put up a song for download in iTunes. If Apple charges a 90 cent fee for downloading the song, they would have recovered their investment cost as soon as 1000 people have downloaded that song and any downloads after that is pure profit. Moreover, over a period of time as the expense incurred on maintaining that song remains negligible all the revenue regenerated through the downloads adds directly to their profits. Now, in case Apple had decided to sell the songs in CDs they would be incurring a much higher manufacturing cost in terms of the cost of the CD and burning it, shipping it to the customer, etc. Here, as the sales increase the manufacturing cost also increase proportionally, resulting in a linear growth in profits. (Fig A).

OK, so if you say that e-commerce is the best thing to have happened after sliced bread, then how come we don't see so many millionaires around. Putting up a web store is actually the easier part of setting up your e-commerce business. The important thing is getting people to come over and buy the products you want to sell. Well, this job isn't really as simple as getting your site to show up amongst the top 10 search results in a search engine or generate traffic by putting your banner ads on popular sites. One must remember that an average surfer spends between 30 seconds to 2 minutes on a site looking for the information he/she needs, and if they don't get what they want, they have moved on. Also, many times users would come to your site looking to learn about the product and not really buy it, so while your site statistics show that 1000 people are visiting your website everyday, you'd probably have only 5-6 people actually end up buying from your web store. So, the trick to running a successful web store is to enable more people to buy your products, create an opportunity for them to come back and buy more, and reward them if they introduce their friends to your site through attractive referral programs.

What is Forex Trading 2017?

Forex trading can be an excellent source of supplementary income for people who understand the market and are comfortable with the trading platforms. Here's more...

Foreign exchange market or Forex is the market for buying and selling currencies. Currencies from all over the word can be traded in Forex, which is an OTC (over the counter) market. It is loosely regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). The National Futures Association (NFA) has regulatory authority over retail brokers and market makers. Forex, the most liquid market in the world, operates round the clock.

Forex Trading

Cross Rate: In the Forex market, currencies are always quoted in pairs. For example .709471 EUR/USD means that 1$ = 0.709471 Euros. When USD is not one of the currencies whose exchange rate is being determined, the exchange rate is referred to as the cross rate.

pip: The smallest price movement in a currency is called a pip (percentage in point). Profits are measured in terms of pips. For the EUR/USD pair, 1 pip = 0.0001. Hence if EUR/USD increases by 1%, it would mean an increase of 100 pips.

Bid-Ask Spread: The difference between the bid (trader's sale price or the dealer's cost price) and the ask (trader's cost price or the dealer's sale price) is called the spread. The bid and ask are quoted in pairs. For example .709474-71 EUR/USD would mean that 0.709474 is the bid price and 0.709471 is the ask price. Market makers quote both bid and ask prices, and profit from the bid ask spread.

Spot and Forward Rate: Spot rate is the price of a currency in the spot market. Forward rate is the predetermined rate at which a currency can be exchanged for another in the forward market.

Market Participants

Governments and Banks: Governments and central banks of various countries deal in the Forex market with the intention of maintaining their foreign exchange reserves. Many a time, governments buy and sell currency with the intention of achieving a favorable balance of payment (BOP) situation. For instance, if a country is interested in increasing its exports, it might sell its currency. This would increase the supply of the currency. An increase in supply would result in currency depreciation. Once the currency depreciates, exports increase; making the current account balance favorable and the BOP satisfactory. Since governments and central banks have unlimited authority and access to money, they can exercise significant influence on the direction of the market.

Business Firms: Firms deal in the Forex market mainly to hedge against unfavorable exchange rate movements. For example, a firm in the U.S. engaged in the business of supplying corn to Europe would receive payments in Euros. Suppose Euro depreciates, the U.S. based firm would suffer. This is because, the firm can now buy fewer dollars with the euros. In order to avoid this situation, the firm can enter into a futures contract to lock in a favorable rate at which Euros can be exchanged for dollars. This process is known as hedging.

Banks and Financial Institutions: Banks and other financial institutions also participate in the Forex market. Banks profit from the bid-ask spread. They deal in a particular segment of the market known as the interbank market. In this market, banks who have credit relations with each other indulge in trading currencies. The size of the bank in monetary terms would determine its credit relation and its importance in the interbank market. Individuals who need to exchange currency can approach their local banks.

Hedge Funds: Hedge funds indulge in speculation by trying to judge the direction of the market. They profit by buying low and selling high. Their intention is to profit from sales, and not take delivery of the currency.

Retail Forex Brokers : Retail brokers allow individuals who participate in the market with the intention of making money through speculation. There are many online retail brokers who allow people to create an account for the purpose of trading. They also allow people to trade on margin. This means that for every 1$ in their account, they are allowed to borrow up to 100$ (say). Online brokers provide trading platforms. People are generally allowed a demo account that can be used to test the platform. The product can be customized to suit the needs of the user. The user is also provided with an e-book that provides training. The user has access to news, currency quotes, and technical analysis tools, and can buy and sell many currency pairs. A wide selection of plotting tools are also provided to help the user plot his own charts. Many of these products automatically signal when to buy and sell. A good Forex platform will allow the trader to profit from market movements that are repetitive nature. However, many of these products may not deliver. They might be useless or too complicated for the user. In order to avoid getting scammed, one should always look for a regulated broker before deciding to trade online.

Forex trading can be a great source of income for people who are comfortable with the foreign exchange market, and know how to make the most of currency movements. However, one must remember that it involves substantial risk, especially if the trader is heavily leveraged. It is up to the trader to ensure that he chooses an appropriate trading platform and exercises adequate caution while trading.

This world is full of complexities, and doing business... doing successful business in the same, is no less than a nightmare. Cut-throat competition, intricate strategies, and incredible masterminds in the market, make it difficult for a beginner to survive in the world of commodity trading. So how about you getting the necessary education and training, becoming a commodity trading advisor, and making heaps of money by means of your intellect and your abilities to read the existing market trends? If you trust your instincts enough to advise your clients to trade, and see yourself working in a reputable trading firm a few years down the line, the job of a commodity trading advisor is totally yours! To become one, you need to get registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission through the National Futures Association, and begin applying. However, it's not as simple as it sounds. Not only does this career field demand rich-scale educational requirements, it also calls for rigorous initial training and recognition. If all goes well, who knows, you might end up working for one of the top-most trading firms in the world, in just a few years! To help you realize your dream, here's all the required information for you to get a big break in the field of commodity trading.

Steps to Become a Commodity Trading Advisor

A major chunk of the entire process involves obtaining the necessary education and training, followed by a few years of internship or assistance, since many firms demand prior experience in the field of finance. Following are the steps to become a CTA:

Obtain a Bachelor's Degree
Those interested in building up a career in finance are expected to be good at statistics, business trade, and finance, from the very beginning. Hence, not only should the aspirant have a good background in finance, they need to have a bachelor's degree in finance too, to start with. The degree needs to be obtained from an accredited college or university, and the aspirant should have a high grade point average with a thorough knowledge of the commodity price index. A master's program is always an added advantage for the aspirant's portfolio, and therefore, along with the bachelor's degree, one could enroll for a master's degree in finance too.

Register Yourself at the CFTC
As discussed in the beginning, any aspirant interested in commodity trading needs to register themselves in the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission under the Federal Commodity Exchanges Act passed in 1936. Post registration, the aspirant is required to pass the National Commodity Futures Examination, which will gauge their understanding of the trade market. Passing this examination will fetch the aspirant an NFA membership, in order to conduct futures business with public. This membership requires them to pay a yearly fee of approximately $850.

Apply in Commodity Trading Firms or Set Up Your Own Business
The most important step is to begin applying in the right commodity trading firms, which not only value your achievements, but also pay you the remuneration you deserve. Commodity trading advisors can also work individually by introducing their own business and operations, and start soliciting clients. For this purpose, the NFA and CFTC will require you to draft a disclosure document that has information about you and your trading prospects, to submit to all potential clients, and seek for response. The CFTC will help you solicit clients this way, post your document's approval by the NFA. Note that your disclosure document should be carefully drafted by an experienced attorney, in order to get approved.

Jobs in commodity trading have seen phenomenal development in the last few years, especially post recession, for the reason that today, every investor and trader fears investment in the wrong place, and wants every investment and trading to be a success. Therefore, such jobs are all the more in demand in today's world. Now, when you have a clear idea with regards to the various requirements, frame a strategy in your mind, begin with the hard work this field demands, and kick-start your flourishing career.

Samsung's revenue and profit are down thanks to Note7 recall

As expected, Samsung's revenue and profit have fallen sharply in the third quarter of 2016, due to a painful recall of the company's flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note7, due to combusting battery issues.

The company's revenue for the quarter was 47.82 trillion won ($41.9 billion), a year-over-year decrease of 3.87 trillion won ($3.39 billion), the company announced Thursday. Operating profit for the quarter has also declined sharply compared to last year — 5.2 trillion won ($4.55 billion), a decrease of 2.19 trillion won ($1.91 billion).

Samsung points out that, while its IT & Mobile Communications Division suffered due to the Note7 discontinuation, the Consumer Electronics Division achieved solid year-over-year earnings growth due to strong sales of SUHD TV sets and premium home appliances.

And while Samsung will still feel the burn from the Note7 fiasco in the next quarter, it expects to see a lot of improvement next year.

"Looking to 2017, the company will focus on achieving solid earnings growth through normalization of the mobile business while improving earnings for the components businesses through expansion of V-NAND and OLED panels," the earnings report says.

One of Samsung's key missions for next year when it comes to mobile is "regaining consumers’ confidence," and it will be interesting to see how, exactly, the company plans to go about that.
Samsung has recently started offering discounts on next year's Note8 and Galaxy S8 devices for customers who return their Note7 and replace it with a Samsung phone. Neither phone has been officially announced yet, but the move means Samsung is not ready to give up on the Note brand.

Top 10 Reasons Stop You From Making Money Online 2017

You’ve heard enough about these phrases such as make money online, how to make money, be your own boss and become a millionaire in no time and blah blah blah. I’ve heard and read about the same sentences in last 5 to 7 years since I’m working online.

Enough of that fuss, right? let’s have a closer look into a very different topic for today which is “Top 10 Reasons which Stop You From Making Money Online” a total opposite of what I mentioned in the first paragraph.

Don’t get me wrong, but seriously, it’s time to realize the most important process of becoming successful either online or offline. There are some or many people who will not be able to make money online if the are creating these reasons I’m mentioning below.

I’m not writing this post to discourage anyone. I’ll talk with facts, and the facts are from my personal experience over the past decade. I’ll clearly mention the reasons for why many people will not make money online.

The Possible Reasons to Not Make Money
There are some GREAT reasons I’ll tell you which people create themselves for themselves to stop themselves from making money online on the internet. Yes, those reasons are genuine and need to be taken care of in order to make huge money online. Let’s have a quick look into these reasons.

1 – The Shortcut & The People
If ROME was built through a shortcut then I’d happily say that people will start making huge and great money on the internet by using their beautiful and some ugly shortcuts. I mean, where in the world I can find a beautiful house to live via a shortcut. And where in the world is a shortcut to reach London. People seriously need to think about getting rid of the shortcuts now. There is no shortcut towards a beautiful and stable future.

2 – People are Not Serious
People are curios but not serious. Making money online is not a joke anymore, it requires serious attention. When I see people who want to make money, but still acting like a joker in comments on people’s status who already make money online. Why don’t they seriously think to make money online and start planning it from today, internet is full of unlimited resources. I mean, making money online is a serious business.

3 – Lack of Passion
There was an extensive passion behind the invention of the computer which I’m using right now to show you my this writing. And there was a great passion behind the “electricity” I’m using right now at late night to show my this piece. I was passionate enough to change my life through the internet. And passion comes from within yourself, it’s not something you can borrow or buy. Passion is the second name of success before the actual success on the ground.

You’ll not make money online if you are not passionate enough.

4 – Lack of Knowledge & Skills
The most powerful weapon in the modern world is knowledge. The more knowledge you have, the more will be chances to make money online. Don’t get me wrong, but you need some great knowledge and skills about the thing you are going to use in order to make money online on the internet. Hint: Internet is full of knowledge and skills.

5 – Inconsistency in Performance
In my early online days, I was able to make a few people ready for making money online. And they made some smart income within a few months of time. After that, they went to sleep and waited for more income to come automatically to their pockets. And then they disappeared not only from the internet but also from my life  ðŸ™‚ that’s why one needs to keep the consistency in order to make more and more and more money online.

6 – Lack of Patience
Patience is the most important habit in online earning. If you are lacking patience then don’t expect huge and great money. I myself dived into the online world in 2009, and you know what, I’m still active like day one but with patience. I always run in the race like the “Turtle“, and I know the patience will soon pay off.

7 – Too Much Expectations
I started getting success the day I decided to not expect from people. I mean you’ll never make things happen if you expect that from other people. For instance, you have paused a project or something that you expect somebody else will come to you and will move it forward; seriously, it’s a big joke. You should find ways to do it yourself and never ever expect other people to do it for you. Partnership is a different thing though.

8 – No Clear Path or Goal
When I have conversation with people, they usually ask me what they should do? I never understood this question. I mean why should people ask others about what to do? if you ask me a clear question like what you should do in Pattaya or New York then I’ll be able to answer because I already have been to these places. But if you ask me a stupid question like what you should do in your life then I’ll have no answer to that.

You must be able to think and decide what you should do in your life, you have brain, you have mind, you have internet to research and everything which can you help you decide what you should do in your life. Do what you love and clearly find your path and goal.

You’ll not make money online if you don’t have a clear path or goal.

9 – No Ethics – No Rules
When I started making money online back in 2010, I was contacted by a person from London via email, he said I’ve copied one of their articles and have published on my blog (Though, I had copied it from Wikipedia). He mentioned in the email, if I did not remove the content, he’ll report me to Google and my Adsense account will be banned.

I immediately removed the content, and started researching about this copyright thing, I never know such thing exist in the world. But it took me 3 to 4 months to fully understand about copyrights and intellectual property rights. And since then I’ve set the ethics and rules for my online presence and that includes not to copy, not to use pirate tools or software and above that not to do any illegal or unethical thing on the internet. And today I’m happy with the rules and ethics I had set back in 2010.

You’ll not make great money online if you have no ethics and no rules.

10 – Doing Too Many Things
Back in the days when I started learning computer and internet. It was easy to engage in more than a dozen online things at the same time. The reason was simple, things would not move too quickly. For instance, the Windows XP had a stable version for many years. And the Google search engine never changed its algorithms in 5 years of time.

However, today the world is different. Things get updated and change dramatically. You have learned a skill tonight, and tomorrow that’s expired or no more useful. This is the reason why you must keep your concentration on the only things you are capable of doing, and which you love the most. Do one thing properly and professionally instead of doing 20 things poorly. This is the success formula in the modern world we live in today.

For instance, I started with web development, online marketing, SEO, Blogging, YouTube, Graphic Designing, Web Designing and so many other things back in 2009. At that time, I was successful even with all of these subjects, but over time I had to get rid of Graphics, Web Designing and eventually I had to left Web Development. Now, my focus is only on marketing and blogging.

You’ll not make huge money if you are not doing the right thing at the right time.

The Bottom Line
I have honestly explained the reasons which cause the gap between you and the money on the internet. If you really want to make money online then make a small difference in the world, the small difference will change your life forever. Don’t go for BIG things, think big but start with a small step, and you’ll reach the destination you have in mind. Don’t care about what people say about you, focus on your goal and make it happen.

I made a very small difference, and that changed my life. I contributed very small to the world of web development and online teaching, and that changed me financially, emotionally and physically. You need to find what you can do and contribute to, everything you do is a contribution. Find your goal and make it a reality.

I did nothing in 2015 except visiting a few countries for tourism, and earned One Crore in One Year. That was because of the work I previously had done and which paid off later.

Make it local. They are looking for stories and sources that reflect the communities they cover: Livingston, Macomb, Oakland, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. Therefore, southeast Michigan ideas and sources are preferred.
Pitch early. Content for Metro Parent is determined months in advance. Story ideas should be pitched a good two to three months before the month it would run. This is particularly important for seasonally-anchored stories.

How to get started

If your article submission is accepted or you have been assigned a story, you should submit an invoice (within an email is fine) that includes name, address, phone number, Social Security Number, name of story and payment amount.

The invoice should be submitted within a week of submitting story.

Features 1,000-2,500 words: $150-$350, depending on complexity of topic and number of sources required.
  • Department columns: $50-75
  • Parent Pipeline pieces: $35-50
  • Reprints: $35

The finished story should be single-spaced with a hard return at each new paragraph. Do not indent for new paragraphs. And include only one space after punctuation marks.

  • Include your byline plus preferred tagline
  • Font should be Times New Roman, 14-point
  • Include a suggested headline and/or dek
  • Subheads (i.e., within the body copy) are strongly encouraged for stories 1,000 words or more.

Metro Parent prefer stories to be sent as a Microsoft Word attachment. For those who don’t have Word, send the story within the body of an email.

Be sure to include the name and phone number of sources at the end of story, in case they have follow-up questions.

10-Uxbooth: $100

Uxbooth is in to design. I figured that much out. The rest of their site is gibberish. For example, their “About us” page begins with these words,

“The UX Booth is a publication by and for the user experience community. Our readership consists mostly of beginning-to-intermediate user experience and interaction designers..”

What that means is anybodies guess. it might be good for the user-experience but it’s nigh useless if you were looking for a reading experience. Never-the-less, they offer you money to join them in the art of gibberish.

How to get started

Uxbooth do not accept fully written drafts outright. Instead, they pair authors with editors in order to collaborate throughout the writing process. It works like this:

  • You pitch a topic or idea that you’d like to share. Don’t be shy!
  • If accepted, a development editor is assigned to you in order to help you develop your narrative in accordance with their style guide. The two of you discuss and evolve the idea until it’s ready to share.
  • That’s it! Articles are usually published four-to-eight weeks after they’re initially pitched.
  • They pay $100 per article.
