You’ve Been Brushing Your Teeth Wrong Your Entire Life

Brushing your teeth is such an important part of your daily routine, that often times we take it for granted.

We shorten the amount of time we brush them, or sometimes even skip brushing then at all, but there are wrong and correct ways you can brush your teeth, which we will go over right now!

USE AN ADA-APPROVED BRUSH

Often times, the less expensive ones are just as good as the expensive toothbrushes, but you have to make sure that you buy an ADA-approved brush.

On top of that, make sure you replace your entire tooth brush – or head if you use an electrical – every few months.

In reality, your toothbrush is battling bacteria every time you brush your teeth, and who knows how many of those are kept behind on the brush itself.

CLEAN YOUR BRUSH

Make sure to clean the brush very well after you’ve finished brushing your teeth. This ensures that as many bacteria as possible are removed from the brush itself.

BRUSH YOUR TONGUE

You may not know this, but most bacteria are located on your tongue. Whenever you brush your teeth, make sure you also brush your tongue as well at the same time.

DON’T USE TOO MUCH PRESSURE

Pressing your brush too hard on your teeth and gums may hurt your gums and diminish the size of your teeth over time.

DON’T BRUSH IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOU’VE EATEN

Brushing your teeth right after you’ve eaten can wear down the enamel on your teeth. Give it a half an hour or longer after you’ve finished eating before you brush your teeth.

TIME YOURSELF WHILE YOU BRUSH

We all know the 2 minute rule, but how many of us actually brush our teeth for the entire 2 minutes?

Try and time yourself every time you brush your teeth and make sure you divide your brushing time equally over all parts of your mouth.

FLOSS!

Flossing is as important as actually brushing your teeth. Make sure you floss before you actually brush your teeth. This way the major food parts have been removed completely, allowing you to finish it up with brushing them.

USE MOUTH WASH

After you’ve finished brushing your teeth, always use mouth wash to clear the remaining bacteria.

I use Tom’s, which I consider to be the most natural of them out there based on the research I’ve done.

BOTTOM LINE

Brushing your teeth is serious business. Prevent getting cavities by doing it the correct way!
